Prof. dr. Harm Jonker is professor in the Department of Multi-Scale Physics at Delft University of Technology (Netherlands). He is head of the "Clouds, Climate and Air Quality" group in Delft and has an affiliate scientist position at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder (Colorado). He got his Ph.D. in Physics at Utrecht University and worked as Postdoc at the Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI). His research is related to boundary layer turbulence, cloud physics and cloud dynamics, and he is particularly interested in the role of (low) clouds in a changing climate, as well as in the role of clouds in atmospheric transport and dispersion of reacting and non-reacting species. His research methodology comprises atmospheric observations, downscaled laboratory experiments that mimic atmospheric phenomena, and detailed numerical simulation of clouds and turbulence using Large-Eddy Simulation and Direct Numerical Simulation.
