GALES - Cabauw webcam: combined display
TU-Delft has implemented recently a Large Eddy Simulation atmospheric model (GALES) on a graphics processor (GPU).
This model is run for Cabauw once every day.
The output cloud field is captured almost from the same view angle as the Cabauw webcam.
This webcam records continuously the sky north of Cabauw. Each minute one image is recorded and stored temporarely.
The webcam images and the LES output are combined in one movie that shows webcam images and LES output side-by-side.
The latest 4 movies are listed on this page, default the most recent is shown.
For more information about the LES model contact
Dr. Pier Siebesma (KNMI/TU-Delft)

NOTE:
- the movies are quasi-streaming but do not autostart! The movies are approximately 7 MB in size, if you have a slow connection it may take
some time before the data are transferred.
- some browsers do not support this type of video format (avi) and/or mediaplayer
- In the 'fog' season from 1st of Sept till 31st of March, the cloudradar and LD40 might be tilted to an almost horizontal position.
In that case the quicklooks don't show the vertical cross section anymore.
